June 2006 - release of new version of the powerful Microwave & RF IC Design Suite, LINMIC 6.4...

Product Name Product Category Product Description
LINMIC Design Suite Design Entry
LINMIC is an advanced Microwave & RF IC Design Suite with full design functionality for various planar circuit technologies and with coaxial additions. LINMIC represents the most complete CAD solution of European origin in this area and consists of a family of mostly EM-based CAD tools integrated for high functionality and user friendliness. Since many of its key portions are based on rigorous full-wave electromagnetic theory, it can handle complex configurations with multidielectric layers, multiple coupled conductors, irregular conductor shapes, and coupled discontinuities for both, strip type and also some CPW type structures.

LINMIC Interconnect Simulator
"LINMIC Interconnect" is the new, efficient EM-based tool for the simulation of single- and multiple-coupled transmission lines in a single- or multilayer dielectric medium. It is intended to support designers of planar analogue microwave circuits (like broadside couplers or Lange couplers) as well as designers of planar high speed digital circuits (signal integrity).Layout and substrate configurations are edited with a comfortable GUI featuring state-of-the-art functionalities and a design assistant. For the simulation, highly efficient quasi-static and fullwave engines are available. The quasi-static engine can handle single- and multiple-coupled strips in up to 20 dielectric layers, taking finite metallisation thickness into account. The fullwave engine can handle single- and multiple-coupled strips in up to 6 dielectric and 2 metallisation layers, taking dispersion into account.

LINMIC COAX Simulator
The 3D Electromagnetic COAX Simulator for Coaxial. It is very common to connect circuit components by coaxial cables. They are used, for example, in the Ethernet, FDDI, etc., because they are robust and fast. Especially, if coaxial cables are used at high data transmission rates it is the more important to know their electromagnetic behaviour because small errors may then have large effects. This can be accomplished by an electromagnetic simulation taking into account the electrical properties of all involved conductors and dielectrics.

Efficiently simulates coaxial lines, steps and tapers.
Import of layouts in IGES format
Access to linear time domain simulation including user-defined stimuli and windowing functions
Employs the well-known mode matching technique

LINMIC PowerFET Extractor
The world's first layout-oriented software to truly account for EM distributed effects in active devices. Power FETs are key components in modern mobile communication and radar and are also a coming option in microwave heating. Large power devices exhibit distributed effects intrinsically and within the manifolds which affect transistor performance. These effects cannot be seen in classical lumped modeling. LINMIC PowerFET contains a novel approach to extract parameters and simulate FETs taking distributed effects into account. It provides electrical information from inside the device, allows for accurate scaling and is useful to predict novel transistor geometries.

EMPIRE™ FDTD-Based EM Simulator
EMPIRE is a versatile 3D electromagnetic field simulator based on the powerful 3D Finite Difference Time Domain Method (FDTD) which has become a standard for RF component design. Its applicability ranges from analyzing planar structures, interconnects, and multi-port multilayer packages to waveguides, antennas and EMC problems. Thus EMPIRE covers the whole area of 3D field simulations for RF designers. Scattering parameters, radiation patterns and field plots are generated for a user-defined frequency range within only one simulation run. For structure definition, the Graphical User Interface Ganymede is included in the EMPIRE package and several structure import and export formats are supported. The kernel of EMPIRE is speed optimized to use the full memory bandwidth of modern computer systems. Monitoring and animation capabilities will give physical insight into electromagnetic wave phenomena while accurate results are obtained with little effort regarding memory usage and simulation time.
